An alert neighbor likely stopped a home burglary and called police in time for officers to surround the suspect and arrest him after a short foot chase.

Yesterday, Thursday, August 25, about 2:30 in the afternoon, a woman called dispatch and told of a man dressed in all black, wearing a ski mask and gloves, trying to break her neighbor’s window, near 12th and Connecticut. Officers arriving on scene, saw a man matching the description, about a block away. The suspect saw the marked car and immediately took off running, darting between houses and through alleys. Nearby units joined the effort until eventually an officer was able to get out of the car and apprehend the suspect on foot.

The investigation revealed the same suspect attempted to break in at least one other time. The grateful residents weren’t home, but provided officers details about previous suspicious activity. A good reminder to keep an eye out for each other in your neighborhood and report any suspicious activity.
