The Ottawa Library is dealing with a number of books and other publications that some patrons have requested be removed from the shelves.
During the Regular Library Board of Trustees Meeting, Library Director, Terri Chartier, said she and several other staff members are reading through the contested works to get their impressions of them. Chartier says some of the books may not be what she would personally read, but is concerned about upholding the freedom to read for all patrons.
Chartier says she will respond to the patrons after she is finished evaluating the affected works.
