The need for high speed internet in Kansas is at an all time high. Yesterday it was announced that 141 applications have been submitted for the Capital Projects Fund Infrastructure Program, requesting almost $600 million; but, only $83 million is available. Lieutenant Governor David Toland says the overwhelming response demonstrated the vast need for high speed broadband across the State.

Several area providers have made requests, including AT & T in Franklin County, Brightspeed in Anderson County, Osage County and Osawatomie. Charter Communications in Miami County, Comcast in Miami County, Cox Communication in Franklin, Douglas, Miami and Osage Counties. Craw Can, who serves Colony, KwiKom, serving parts of Franklin and Osage Counties. Peoples Telecommunications in Miami County and TVC in Franklin and MoKan, which serves the Louisburg and Rantoul area.

The review process is underway and award announcements will be made in October..
