Another edition of the KOFO Good People Award. Yesterday morning, Wednesday, September 7, a funeral procession was making its way toward the intersection of 23rd and Princeton. An officer from the Ottawa Police Department blocked the intersection so the procession could get through without issue. Several callers to KOFO said the officer got out of his patrol car, took off his hat and placed it over his heart as the procession went by. Those calling say they were touched by this simple act of respect and had not seen an officer do this before.
A big thank you to Ottawa Police Officer, Fred Dowd, in car number 529, for being so respectful toward someone you didn’t know and for making a huge positive impression on quite a few people who saw your actions yesterday morning. KOFO awards you with the “Good People Award”. Thank you Officer Dowd for your service. You put a bright spot in a sometimes not-so bright world. The world needs more people like you.
