
Looking for something to do this weekend in the Osawatomie area? the Freedom Festival is Saturday and Sunday in John Brown Memorial Park. the Freedom Festival is a living history event that features a re-enactment of the Battle of Osawatomie, Civil War weapons, portraals of historic figures, frontier artisans and a modern arts and crafts/vendor fair. You can join hundreds of history buffs, shoppers and families as they meet Mary Buster, the great-great granddaughter of John Brown’s sister, throw a tomahawk at the tomahawk throwing range. Check out the Civil War weapons and drill demonstration and watch battle re-enactments and gun fights, shop local, historical artisans and craftsmen booths and so much more.
So much to do and the Freedom Festival, learning about John Brown and his role in what would lead to the Civil War. Freedom Fest starts Saturday morning, September 17th, at 10:00 and runs all day. We’ll have more on the festival as the week progresses.
