Republican nominee for Governor and Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt, announced his plan Tuesday, September 6th, to eliminate the sales tax on diapers and feminine hygiene. Schmidt says that if he was elected for Kansas Governor, he intends to dispose of the sales tax on those items during his first 100 days as Governor. Schmidt further explained the decision to launch this plan was because of inflation.

The Republican nominee for Lieutenant Governor and Schmidt’s running mate, Katie Sawyer, say that this proposal is a way to give families relief from the coast of essential items, with Sawyer adding that diapers and feminine hygiene products are essential. She called the plan pro-women, pro-mothers and pro-family. In June Schmidt announced the “Retire Tax Free” plan to eliminate income tax on Social Security Benefits, pensions and 401K distributions.
