The Kansas Department of Transportation is sponsoring the “Put the Brakes on Fatalities” poster contest again this year. Kids who submit a poster have the chance to win some great prizes, all the way from an Amazon gift card to a Kindle Fire, to a new bike. Last year, nine year old Antonio Guerrero, of Ottawa, was the Regional winner and won a brand new Huffy Rock bicycle.
The contest is open to Kansas students age 5 to 13. There is also a video contest for ages 8-12, with even bigger prizes.
About 37,000 people die in traffic crashes each year across the United States. That’s nearly 101 fatalities every day. Let’s encourage everyone — drivers, passengers, pedestrians and cyclists — to exercise caution every day and “Put the Brakes on Fatalities”.
You can enter by going to the Kansas Department of Transportation Website … “k-s.org” and search “Put the Brakes on Fatalities.: Entries are due by September 25.
