The battle over whether books that contain what some see as ‘objectionable material’ is raging all over the country and the Ottawa Library is one of those battle grounds. At the Regular Ottawa Library Board of Trustees Meeting, Ottawa Mayor, Eric Crowley, who normally just observes the meetings, became part of the conversation:
If a patron finds material they object to, there is a reconsideration process that is overseen by the Library Director. After reviewing the material, a decision is made on whether to remove the book or leave it on the shelf.
