The City of Osawatomie is continuing its “Paving the Way” project and it has already made a big impact on neighbors in town this year. Brown Avenue from 16th to 18th is finishing up a full depth replacement and several other blocks are currently receiving a mill and overlay treatment.
City Manager Mike Scanlon reports that City staff is continuing design work on the streets for 2023 repair, including a full depth replacement of 6th street from the City limit to City limit and Brown Avenue from 7th to 12th. With $450,000 annually from a mill rate increase, a sales tax increase voted in by residents, a million dollar County Grant and two million in State and Federal aid. The City has nearly $9 million dedicated solely to the streets, over the next 10 years.
