It was hot yesterday and , just in case you were wondering about record high temperatures for the date, yesterday set a new record with the high temperature being 99. We officially broke the record shortly before 2:00 in the afternoon. The previous record temp for September 19th was 97, set in 1925. The hottest temperature ever recorded in September in Ottawa was 111 in 1947; and for comparison, the hottest temperature ever recorded in Ottawa was 118 on July 14th, 1954. So, if you hear someone say, “I don’t remember it ever being this hot in September”, they’re right! Oh, by the way, the forecast for today will break another record. They are calling for 100 degrees, the record is 98. On the flip side, the forecast for Thursday calls for a high of only 64 and, in case you are curious, the coldest temperature on record for September in Ottawa was 27 degrees on September 29, 1908.
