Friday evening, September 23, the Osage County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a house explosion on Indian Hills Road near Carbondale. Upon arriving at the scene, deputies reported the house was destroyed and on fire. Multiple fire companies responded. They found one person at the scene with severe injuries. Sixty two year old Timothy Howey was transported from the scene by Lifesave Air Ambulance to the University of Kansas Medical Center in critical condition. He remains there, still in critical condition.
The cause of the explosion and fire remain under investigation by the Osage County sheriff’s office and the Kansas State Fire Marshal’s office. Sheriff Chris Wells asks that anyone with any information about the explosion to contact the Osage County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Unit, Osage County Crime Stoppers, or call 911.
