An Ottawa man who, in April of 2021, led law enforcement on a chase that led to four police cars being damaged, has been sentenced to prison. Fifty nine year old Scott Thompson of Ottawa, was sentenced to 38 months in prison on three counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, from a DUI and fleeing and eluding incident that happened in Ottawa on April 15th, 2021.
During the incident three police vehicles were disabled and damaged from being intentionally rammed into with the vehicle driven by Thompson. The four Ottawa Police Department officers involved in the incident were not injured and appeared in court to provide victim impact statements to the judge.
Thompson will serve out the remainder of his sentence with the Kansas Department of Corrections. The case was investigated primarily by the Ottawa Police Department with assistance from the Franklin County Sheriff’s office.
