Many drinking establishments around the State are in a dilemma. Fifty three counties in Kansas have a requirement that such establishments have 30% of their sale come from food. That requirement creates challenges for places, such as bars and breweries, where patrons aren’t always craving food. the owners of Not Lost Brewery in Downtown Ottawa face that dilemma. If they don’t get their sales up to 30% by February, they could lose their license. Owner Melanie Gentry says it would shut them down:

County Attorney, Blain Finch, says it’s a county rule. Commissioners were interested in building a plea to the County to eliminate the rule or see if the City can charter out of the rule.
