This is National Chimney Safety Week and, as the temperature drops, may people are thinking about firing up the fireplace. But, it’s important to have you chimney inspected before you get started. The inspection is not just looking to see if they need to be swept out. Chimney Safety Institute of America President, Chuck Roydhouse, says you need to see of any damage has taken place over the course of the year, such as a tree limb hitting it during a storm or hail damage. He talks about some other potential issues:
There shouldn’t be any carbon dioxide or smoke that goes into a home. These are poisonous and can be deadly. Just another reminder, fireplaces are designed to burn wood only.
