SINCE NEXT MONTH IS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH, THE PROBLEM IS GETTING SPECIAL ATTENTION FROM LAW ENFORCEMENT AND SOCIAL AGENCIES WHO DEAL WITH DOMESTIC VIOLENCE VICTIMS AND PERPETRATORS. FRANKLIN COUNTY SHERIFF JEFF RICHARDS SAYS THE PROBLEM IS WORSE THAN MOST REALIZE.

IN AN IRONIC TWIST, FRANKLIN COUNTY DEPUTY SAM SMITH, WHO DIED IN A CAR WRECK OVER 12 YEARS AGO, WAS RESPONDING TO A DOMESTIC VIOLENCE CALL AT THE TIME OF HIS FATAL ACCIDENT.
