FRIDAY MORNING, A EUDORA POLICE OFFICER LOCATED A VEHICLE THAT HAD BEEN INVOLVED IN A KIDNAPPING AND THE KIDNAPPERS WERE REPORTEDLY ARMED. EARLIER THAT MORNING, THE DOUGLAS COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE AND EUDORA POLICE HAD BEEN NOTIFIED OF AN ARMED KIDNAPPING IN TOPEKA AND THE SUSPECT’S VEHICLE WAS SEEN SOUTHBOUND ON K-10.
THE EUDORA OFFICER LOCATED THE VEHICLE NEAR THE JOHNSON COUNTY LINE AND MADE A HIGH RISK A STOP NEAR K-7 AND K-10. DEPUTIES WITH THE DOUGLAS COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT, JOHNSON COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT AND OLATHE POLICE DEPARTMENT OFFICERS WERE ALSO INVOLVED IN THE HIGH RISK STOP OF THE VEHICLE. THE THREE ADULT SUBJECTS IN THE VEHICLE WERE TAKE INTO CUSTODY WITH OUT INCIDENT AND DEPUTIES RECOVERED A FIREARM IN THE VEHICLE. THE 3-YEAR-OLD CHILD INVOLVED IN THE KIDNAPPING, THE THREE SUSPECTS AND THE FIREARM WERE ALL TURNED OVER TO THE TOPEKA POLICE DEPARTMENT.
