A LAWRENCE WOMAN SUFFERED SERIOUS INJURIES AND WAS FLOWN TO A KANSAS CITY-AREA HOSPITAL AFTER A HEAD-ON CRASH AT KANSAS HIGHWAY 10 AND BOB BILLINGS PARKWAY YESTERDAY MORNING, ACCORDING TO THE DOUGLAS COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE AND KANSAS HIGHWAY PATROL. THE TWO-VEHICLE CRASH OCCURRED JUST AFTER 7 YESTERDAY MORNING.
A PRELIMINARY REPORT FROM THE KANSAS HIGHWAY PATROL SAYS A VEHICLE DRIVEN BY 47-YEAR-OLD STACEY SEXTON, OF LAWRENCE, WAS SOUTHBOUND ON THE HIGHWAY AND CROSSED THE CENTER LINE FOR AN UNKNOWN REASON, JUST SOUTH OF THE BOB BILLINGS PARKWAY INTERCHANGE. HER VEHICLE STRUCK A STRAIGHT TRUCK DRIVEN BY A 40-YEAR-OLD LAWRENCE MAN WHO WAS NOT INJURED.
SEXTON WAS FLOWN TO THE UNIVERSITY OF KANSAS HOSPITAL IN KANSAS CITY WITH SUSPECTED SERIOUS INJURIES. SHE AND THE OTHER DRIVER WERE BOTH WEARING SEAT BELTS. THE ACCIDENT CLOSED THE HIGHWAY FOR OVER 4 HOURS WHILE AUTHORITIES COMPLETED THEIR INVESTIGATION
