FRIDAY NIGHT OCTOBER 21ST, ABOUT 10 OFFICERS WITH THE OTTAWA POLICE DEPARTMENT WERE DISPATCHED TO ADVENT HEALTH OTTAWA TO INVESTIGATE AFTER A SUBJECT CAME TO THE HOSPITAL WITH STAB WOUNDS. OFFICERS DETERMINED THE INCIDENT HAPPENED IN THE 600 BLOCK OF SOUTH ELM STREET AND AN IDENTIFIED SUSPECT MAY BE INSIDE THE RESIDENCE.
THE VICTIM IS A 25-YEAR-OLD FEMALE FROM OTTAWA AND SUFFERED NON-LIFE-THREATENING INJURIES AND WAS TREATED AND RELEASED AT ADVENT HEALTH OTTAWA. THE VICTIM AND SUSPECT ARE SIBLINGS. THE OTTAWA POLICE DEPARTMENT STAR TEAM RESPONDED TO SEARCH THE RESIDENCE AFTER RESPONDING OFFICERS LOCATED ONE LOCKED BEDROOM INSIDE THE RESIDENCE, IDENTIFIED AS THE SUSPECT’S ROOM. STAR TEAM PERSONNEL, MADE UP OF OTTAWA POLICE DEPARTMENT AND FRANKLIN COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE STAFF, EXECUTED A SEARCH WARRANT AT THE RESIDENCE BUT DID NOT LOCATE THE SUSPECT INSIDE THE RESIDENCE.
YESTERDAY MORNING, OFFICERS FOLLOWING UP ON LEADS, LOCATED THE WOMAN WHO WAS ARRESTED WITHOUT INCIDENT AT A RESIDENCE IN THE 100 BLOCK OF SOUTH MAPLE STREET, 18-YEAR-OLD AMANI BENNET, WAS ARRESTED FOR AGGRAVATED DOMESTIC BATTERY AND CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY AND IS CURRENTLY BEING HELD IN THE FRANKLIN COUNTY ADULT DETENTION CENTER AWAITING FORMAL CHARGES.
