It’s only a matter of time before water rates go up in Ottawa. During the Regular Ottawa City Commission Study Session, Commissioners listened to a presentation on the water rate proposal. Commissioner MIke Skidmore asked Finance Director Melanie Landis for a clarification of a 10 percent increase over five years:
Landis says if the Commissioners feel that is too sharp an increase, then they can schedule the increase in different ways. City officials say rates need to go up because expenses are exceeding revenues.
