The City of Ottawa is looking to build back its cash balance in the water fund, and to do that water rates will have to be raised. Finance director, Melanie Landis, says ideally, a second fund should be established to meet the expense of water department improvements.
Landis is proposing a 10% increase each year over the next five years………she says if Commissioners find that too steep, they can schedule the increases in a different manner.
