The anniversary of the Pearl Harbor Attack today did not go unnoticed by several Garnett residents. The Anderson County Review interviewed several people who were impacted by the attacks. But unfortunately, that interview was in 2001 and all those who were interviewed have since passed away. Still, their stories are so truly amazing. For instance, Roy Cole, of Garnett who’s dad told him of the attack that fateful morning. He was 18 at the time and two years later he was drafted into the army.
Bob Boots, of Garnett was also in college at KU. He said he remembered the sense of Nationalism on the KU campus, saying everyone wanted to be a part of it and not drag their heels, with people volunteering in masses. He went on to be an air force aviator.
