Nearly 400 Farm Bureau members of Kansas wrapped up business on Monday for their farm organization during Kansas Farm Bureau’s 104th annual meeting. The policies adopted will now become the organization’s road map for the 2023 legislative session. Topics of discussion included water, medical marijuana and energy production.

A new Board of Directors was elected. Wilson County farmer Joe Newland was elected President and one other board member elected was Osawatomie farmer and Miami County Councilman George Pretz. He is a 5th generation farmer and the owner operator of Pretz Farms. He has been active in many organizations, including the USD 367 School Board, the Miami County Farm Bureau Board, a 4-H leader and FAA advisor, the Miami County Co-op Board and many others. Pretz represents the 2nd District that includes Franklin, Anderson, Douglas, Osage, Miami, Lyon, Morris, Wabaunsee and Johnson Counties.

Pretz says Kansas Farm Bureau represents all segments of the agricultural industry and speaks for all farmers and ranchers. He believes involvement in community and agricultural organizations helps your business and adds value to your life. He says you can help yourself throughout your life, but you feel the best when you help others.
