The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office want motorists to learn a bit about traffic safety. They have noticed some complaints in the Wellsville area about vehicles exiting the interstate, and not stopping at the stop sign at the end of the off ramp. As with any stop sign, or off ramp, they urge you to please stop! They say the speed on the interstate is significantly higher than the speed on K-33. The stop sign is there to allow you a chance to slow down completely, in other words…stop, and check both ways to make sure there is no oncoming traffic, then proceed safely to your destination. They remind drivers that the bridge to the left can make it very difficult to see oncoming traffic, and stopping completely gives you the extra time to make sure it is safe to continue.
The sheriff’s department wants everyone to help everyone else get to where they are going safely.
