Google has released the most searched word of 2022, and it’s not even close to what I thought it might be. The most searched word? “Wordle”. Don’t know what it is? Apparently a lot of people do. It’s an online game in which players have to guess a five letter word in six tries. With a huge interest in politics this year, the second most searched word or phrase was “election results”. Rounding out the top five searches were famous people who passed away…Betty White, Queen Elizabeth and Bob Saget.
Other top searches were Ukraine, hurricane Ian, and powerball. In the world of sports, the top searches were Antonio Brown, Patrick Mahomes, Serena Williams and Joe Burrow. The top movies most searched were, number one “Encanto”, “Thor”, “Love and Thunder” and “Top Gun: Maverick”.
Interestingly, searches for “COVID” were down significantly and didn’t even make the top 100 for the first time in three years.
