An accident on John Brown Road yesterday afternoon, December 8th, seriously injured two people. Just after 2:30 yesterday afternoon, the Franklin County Sheriff, Franklin County EMS, LOH Fire and the Ottawa Fire Department responded to a report of an injury accident in the 3500 block of John Brown Road, east of Ohio Road. Sixty one year-old Barbara Garrison of Princeton was traveling eastbound when she struck thirty four-year-old Delica Johns, of Wellsville, head on. One of the cars was on fire. Passerby’s were able to remove the driver of that car and move them away from the fire. The driver of the other vehicle was trapped inside. Once on scene, emergency crews found one vehicle fully engulfed in flame. First responders were able to remove the other driver, unconscious, but breathing.
As fire crews arrived, they quickly extinguished the flames as EMS went to work on the crash victims. The person from the burning car was transported quickly from the scene, first to Advent Health Ottawa and then on to Overland Park Regional Trauma Unit with life threatening injuries. The second driver was also transported to Advent then on to Overland Park, also with life threatening injuries. No word on their condition.
