Some good news on the expansion of broadband internet in Kansas. About $23 million has been awarded to six service providers in the state to connect over 4,000 homes, businesses, school and health facilities in underserved and rural areas. Franklin County Development Council Executive Director, Paul Bean:

That company is MoKan, who was awarded nearly $7 million to connect 663 premises in Franklin County, and Kwik Kom was rewarded nearly $2 million to connect 1,300 premises in Franklin, Osage and Lyon Counties. The program is the result of the U. S Department ofthe Treasury approval of Kansas’ Coronavirus Capital Projects Fund Broadband Infrastructure Plan. Governor Kelly says there were 141 applications requesting $693 million. Only $83 million is available in this round of funding.
