It’s already cold outside and colder temperatures are on their way. Many people are asking how soon should I start my car to warm it up before driving. The answer might surprise you. Experts at AAA say it’s not a good idea to warm your car up to keep it from freezing. Check it now and if the coolant is low, add to the lowest level marker and not any higher. Shawn Steward of AAA:
Clean battery posts and cable connections ensure a reliable start. If your power goes out, you might be tempted to use your car to charge cell phones, but AAA says only do so if your car is outside and not in a garage. Drivers should also make sure they clean their headlights, replace old wiper blades and inspect their tires’ tread depth and pressure for good visibility and traction. Be ready when the cold hits. Don’t wait till it gets here to try to correct any issues with your vehicle.
