The Ottawa Police Department is dealing with a serious problem that is sweeping the Nation. Tuesday evening, they responded to a residence and found a 22-year-old male from Lawrence deceased. Although the investigation is ongoing, Police Chief Adam Weingartner says an overdose of a powerful drug was involved:
Weingartner says officers also responded to and were able to save five other people in the last month by administering narcan, a drug that can counter the effects of fentanyl. One of those was yesterday evening as officers responded to a call on Cypress Street and had to administer four doses of narcan before bringing the person out of the overdose.
