Over the last 100 years or so, U. S. wheat growers have nearly every year, gradually reduced the number of acres of wheat they plant. This past year, acreage went down by nearly one million acres. But, there could be a little bit of turnaround in store for 2023. USDA Economist Seth Meyer says that number is forecast to go up
Meyer says the war in Ukraine is helping keep wheat prices high. The price of wheat is forecast to be $9.10 a bushel, almost a dollar and a half higher than this past marketing year and Meyer says that should entice growers to boost the numbers of acres they plant, at least moderately.
