The City of Ottawa has received a $75,000 Historic Economic Asset Lifeline, or “HEAL” grant. The money is used to revitalize underused and dilapidated downtown buildings in need of repair to make them viable economic drivers and increase opportunities for investment in downtown areas. The building targeted in Ottawa is 113 South Main, sitting between the State Farm Insurance Offices and the former Pop-A-Top Bar. City Manager Richard Nienstedt says it’s actually the second time they have applied for funding.

He adds that the city and the owner of the building are already collaborating on how to get started, and things should start taking place in the next couple months.
