President Biden visited the U. S.-Mexico Border for the first time as President yesterday, stopping in El Paso, Texas, on his way to Mexico. The visit comes after two years of back-and-forth with Republicans over the Biden Administration’s Immigration Policy. Republican state officials and the Biden Administration are arguing over the future of title 42, an early pandemic-era policy that lets the U. S. quickly expel most migrants seeking asylum without a hearing. However, Biden while announcing new border control measures last week said:

Many Republican, including Kansas Congressman Jake Laturner complained that it took Biden over two years to visit and see the problems first hand. Senator Jerry Moran will visit today, joining a bipartisan group of senators that will tour various points along the border, meet with U. S. Border Patrol and Customs and Border Protection Office of Field Operations, tour Border Patrol Processing Centers and meet with non-profit leaders, local government leaders and local law enforcement personnel.
