The Ottawa City Commission issued a Proclamation at their Study Session Monday, January 9th, recognizing the Dr. Martin Luther King Holiday and what King did to unite our country. City Manager Richard Nienstedt presented the proclamation to former ECKAN Executive Director, Richard Jackson:

Martin Luther King Day will be celebrated on Monday. The day commemorates the life and work of Dr. King, who was a Baptist minister and prominent leader in the American Civil Rights Movement. The day is the only Federal holiday designated as a National Day of Service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities.
