A fire yesterday in Baldwin City displaced a family and their pets. The fire at 619 10th Street began in the early morning hours. Baldwin City Fire Department responded and were on scene at 5:54 yesterday morning, January 12. The fire was contained to a small interior area quickly, and then extinguished. The family and their pet were able to get out safely, and no injuries were reported. The fire Marshal is currently working to determine the cause of the fire. According to Assistant Fire Chief, Donnie Thomas, the American Red Cross is working with the victims to assess and provide for immediate needs.
Baldwin City Fire Department officials say they are grateful for the help of Palmyra Fire District #2, Willow Springs Fire District #3, Consolidated Fire District #1, Douglas County Ks and Lawrence-Douglas County Fire and Medical during this incident.
