Not only are Ottawa utility customers going to see an increase in water rates coming soon, wastewater rates are also going up for Ottawans. During the Regular City Commission Meeting, Ottawa Finance Director, Melanie Landis, spelled out the specifics:
That’s an increase of $9 in the base rate over five years and a 25% increase in rates over the same time period. Several Commissioners pointed out that rate hikes need to be discussed on a yearly basis, not when utilities begin to get short of money.
