We all know that child care is in great demand all across the state, including anderson Anderson County and the surrounding area. Funding for this type of facility can be limited. The Frontier Extension District is working to obtain some funding for existing providers or for those who are interested in starting their own child care business. Extension District Director Rebecca McFarland says that Anderson County Economic Development Director, Julie Turnipseed has taken the lead in the search for funding for child care facilities in the county, in the form of an Implementing Child Care Capacity Building Grant:

She adds that a similar proposal is going on in Franklin County with the Franklin County Child Coalition. Turnipseed says that one new facility is still waiting on final inspection from the state before they open for enrollment. That child care will be the Parkwood Day School, located in the First United Methodist Church, which had a daycare at one time in the past.
