The body of U. S. Marine and 2017 Osawatomie Graduate, John Diediker was brought home yesterday. The Miami County Sheriff’s Department had the honor of escorting the procession as it travelled to Osawatomie. The Paola Fire Department, along with other fire and law enforcement agencies, flew flags and saluted from overpasses as they went by. The Patriot Guard also was part of the escort. Diediker was killed in the early morning hours of January 29th when his truck went off the road in the 2800 block of Vermont Road, north of Rantoul and caught fire.
He was back from his Duty Station in Hawaii to celebrate his son’s one year birthday. A visitation for Diediker is set for Saturday, February 11th, from 10:00 in the morning until 1:00 that afternoon, with a funeral service to follow at the AMC Steele Gymnasium inside Osawatomie High School.
