The proposed wind farm near Pomona has gone down to defeat, thanks to the Franklin County Commission. The commission voted 4 to 0 to deny the special use permit required for a Meteorological Tower, the first step to a possible wind farm. During a marathon meeting, many people got up to express their opposition. Shandi Proudie of Baldwin quoted what commissioners had previously said about wind farms.
The rejection of the wind farm appears to halt any development of wind farms for the foreseeable future, although there is no prohibition against future attempts in the future.
