Discussions are going on that might see some non-traditional farms included in some Federal Farm Programs. During a stop at the Ottawa Coop last week, Kansas Congresswoman Sharice Davids held a Listening Session with agriculture officials…Keri Harris of the Franklin County Conservation District talked about non-traditional farms:

The “EQUIP” Program is a Federally funded program designed to help farmers integrate voluntary conservation practices into their operation. Davids admits that she has a lot to learn about agriculture. She is on the AG Committee for the first time and decided to take a tour of the 3rd District to listen and learn about the needs of farmers and ranchers in the area and hear first hand from AG leaders about what they want included in the new Farm Bill. She called the bill ‘crucial’ as it only comes out every five years..
