Enrollment at public universities in Kansas has decreased dramatically over the past decade. The Kansas News Service reports that fewer people are going to any kind of schooling after graduating from high school. Enrollment at the state’s public universities has dropped more than 6% over the past decade. The data from community colleges is even more dramatic — they’re down more than 28%. Board of Regents President, Blake Flanders, says more high school grads are forgoing higher education altogether. He says the news is troubling and affects anyone choosing a post secondary education. At high-poverty high schools in Kansas, less than a third of students seek any kind of higher degree.
