A proposed project at 907 South Cherry to provide student housing for Ottawa University is generating discussion on what the rezoning should be. Right now the undeveloped property is R-1, low density residential and the developer is asking it be re-zoned as R-3, or high density residential. During the Ottawa Planning Commission Study Session, there was discussion over a city staff recommendation that it be re-zoned R-2, medium density residential. Planning Commission Chair, Cal Lantis, discussed the issue with developer Raymond Love:
Jenna is Ottawa Planner, Jenna Hillyer. The Planning Commission plans to hold a public hearing at its April 12th meeting. Love says he wants to put up two buildings with a maximum of 30 units in each building.
