A Pomona man is in jail after a Franklin County Sheriff’s Deputy had to use a taser to subdue and disarm him. Wednesday afternoon,April 19th, deputies were sent to a residence in Pomona for a report of abuse. Upon arrival, Billy Richardson, Jr. Was found squatted down behind a metal cart in the driveway and refused to cooperate with the investigation. Richardson, who was armed with a handgun, made statements that he was not going back to jail and law enforcement was going to have to shoot him.

As deputies worked to deescalate the situation, contact was made with the victim of reported abuse and the investigation revealed probable cause to arrest Richardson for domestic violence related crimes. Deputies diligently worked with him to cooperate, however, he would not. Eventually, a taser was successfully deployed, Richardson was disarmed and he was take into custody. No injuries were sustained in the incident.

He was charged with aggravated domestic battery, criminal restraint, criminal damage to property, felony interference with law enforcement, and criminal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The case has been forwarded to the Franklin County Attorney’s office for formal charges
