Thursday, April 27th, the Ottawa Police Department officers responded to the 1200 block of South Main Street, for a report of a disturbance with weapons. It was reported that a weapon had been fired during this incident. After an investigation, it was determined that a shot had been fired but nobody had been struck.
Two men were arrested at the scene: 57 year old Jonathan Slocum of Ottawa, was arrested for aggravated assault, domestic battery unlawful discharge of a weapon and disorderly conduct. He will be required to see a judge before a bond is set. Thirty one year old Zachary Cooper, of Ottawa, was arrested for criminal damage to property, domestic battery, and disorderly conduct. His bond was set a t $2,500.
A firearm was collected as evidence at the scene and it is not believed there is a continuing threat to the community The Ottawa Police Department continues to investigate this event and asks that if anyone has information about it, they contact an Ottawa Police Department Detective at 785-242-2561
