The Kansas Legislative Session ended Friday, April 28th, with a record number of Veto overrides at 12, with Governor Kelly issuing Vetoes on 15 different Bills, the most of any governor in the past 30 years in Kansas. One Bill Senator Caryn Tyson wanted to see overridden was Conference Committee Report. That Bill contained tax cuts on social security, an accelerated food state sales tax cut, some property relief for homeowners, an income tax cut by increasing the standard deduction and a single income tax rate of 5.15% . She says the Governor was able to get one Republican and an Independent Senators to flip on the vote.

She says the most disappointing thing was when a Democrat told her not to worry because they would get it next year because it’s an election year. Tyson says it shouldn’t matter if it is an election year, good policy needs to be passed no matter what year.
