Two new principals for Osawatomie schools next year. It was announced last week that Zachary Lopez will be the new Principal at the Osawatomie Middle School. He and his family are moving to the area from California. He has worked the last eight years as an elementary teacher, athletic director and vice-principal. He says working with middle school students is a passion of his and he believes, with accountability and positive genuine relationships, people can grow and thrive. One big issue is, apparently he is a Raiders fan, which probably will be addressed by the students and staff at the beginning of the next school year.

Osawatomie High will also see a new principal next year. Justin Young will take over the position. Young will replace Justin Remington, who stepped down in mid-April to accept a job in the private sector. Remington was hired in February 2022 to succeed retiring Principal Jeff White.
