For the third straight year, the State of Kansas has won Area Development Magazine’s coveted Golden Shovel Award. Kansas was recognized for its achievement in attracting high value investment projects that will create a significant number of new jobs throughout the state. Five states were awarded the prestigious Gold Shovel in their respective population categories, with Kansas at the top of the list of states with fewer than three million residents. Driving the award was the four billion dollar Panasonic battery plant in Eudora, the largest economic development project in State history. But that wasn’t the only one, there were 272 projects across the state, totaling $7.4 billion in private investment, creating over 13,000 jobs.
Kelly says her administration’s goal is to grow the economy and prove to people there are better opportunities in the state of Kansas, creating good paying jobs to support families and communities.
