A new bench at the disc golf course at the Paola VFW will help carry on the memory of Paola Firefighter Mark Dozier. First responders, including members of the Paola Fire Department, Osawatomie Fire Department and Miami County Emergency Services, were on hand for the dedication of the memorial bench recently at the new Mighty Oaks Disc Golf Course at the Paola VFW Post 3712.
Dozier passed away July of 2022 at the age of 59. He grew up in Paola and graduated from Paola High School with the Class of 1981. He worked as a firefighter with the Paola Fire Department for 24 years. He also was a paramedic with Miami County EMS for 15 years. The bench isn’t the only thing carrying on Dozier’s memory. Multiple local students this year received the Mark Dozier Memorial Scholarship.
