A Kansas Highway Patrol pursuit turned deadly yesterday. About 11:15 yesterday morning, June 14th, a trooper initiated a stop on northbound 75 Highway at milepost 98 in Osage County. The vehicle, a red Ford F-150, was stolen as a result of an aggravated robbery carjacking in Texas. Just past the I-35 and 75 Highway junction, the truck attempted to pass a semi on the right shoulder, came back into the northbound lane and was stuck by two other semi trucks. As a result of the crash, the driver of the stolen truck, 24-year-old Trevell Moore of Omaha, and his passenger, 20-year-old Gale Wright, also of Omaha, were seriously injured and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of one of the semi trucks, 52-year-old Keith Coffey, of Vail, North Carolina was taken to the Coffee County Hospital for treatment of his injuries. His truck caught fire and was destroyed. The driver of the other semi was not injured.

The Kansas Highway Patrol Critical Highway Accident Response Team was called to the scene, and this crash remains under investigation at this time.

Another crash in Baldwin Monday night,June 12th, sent a woman to the hospital. The Baldwin City Police Department responded to a one vehicle rollover accident Monday night about 8:30, at the intersection of Highway 56 and Washington Street, upon arrival, they found a vehicle with a 20-year-old female driver trapped inside. Crews from the Baldwin Fire Department were able to successfully extricate the driver and she was taken to an area hospital for treatment of injuries she received in the crash. Baldwin police says alcohol was not involved in the crash.
