The city of Ottawa showed off it’s new fire truck at an Ottawa Chamber of Commerce Coffee this morning, June 23rd, at the Ottawa Fire Station. A large crowd heard Fire Chief Tim Mathias talk about the truck and what it can do, including the time it took to get the truck to Ottawa. Also speaking at the event was Lieutenant Mike Wilson, the department’s Fire Prevention Coordinator, who spoke about a variety of topics having to do with the community programs the fire department is involved in. Also speaking was Angie Malik, who is currently raising money to have a Baby Safety Haven Box at one of Ottawa’s fire stations.
Those on hand got to explore the new fire truck, known as Engine 2. The old Engine 2, was renamed Engine 3 and now becomes the reserve engine, only used when needed. The Williamsburg Fire Department bought the previous reserve truck.
