Recently Ottawa was ranked as the 19th safest place to live in Kansas. That sounds great, but what can we do, as citizens, to push that safety rating even higher? Ottawa Police Chief Adam Weingartner says he is thankful for the rating and that speaks to the efforts of officers and the community, trying to prevent crime:
Weingartner added that you can help even more by taking 30 seconds before you go to bed to make sure your car is locked, your house is locked and your porch light is on. Also, he reminds people that if they see anything that looks suspicious or out of place, do not hesitate to call the police so they can check it out.
