In the early morning hours Sunday, July 2nd, a stabbing in Miami County sent a man to the hospital. Miami County Deputies were sent to a call at a residence in the 21200 block of 278th Terrace in rural Miami County for a disturbance between family members. Once on scene, an adult female met the officers and told them that her son was in the house stabbing her husband. Deputies quickly ran into the home and found the son on top of the father, stabbing him repeatedly. The son was quickly apprehended and the father taken to an area hospital by Miami County EMS for treatment of multiple stab wounds. He is expected to survive the injuries.
Deputies also found a dead animal and an injured animal in the residence. The adult son, 39-year-old Christopher Rooney, of rural Paola was arrested and booked into Miami County Jail for attempted 2nd degree murder and cruelty to animals. He is being held on a $750,000 bond.
